The end of the semester can be one of the most stressful times for any student whether they are in high school or college, but you can help ease any extra anxiety by creating a Finals Survival Kit for the student in your life! Show your encouragement and support with this easy DIY gift with fun printable tags!
It’s FINALS WEEK here in the Weber abode, and normally my kids would be at school focused on wrapping up all of their classes with their end-of-the-semester exams…but with COVID still running rampant here in SoCal, all three of my kids are taking their tests from home.
Normally the PTO at their school has a fundraiser where parents can purchase “Finals Survival Kits” for their students to have some snacks while they are testing.
Since there’s no school, there are no “Survival Kits”, and having a senior this year (#worstyearevertobeasenior)
I’m doing my darndest to make her last year as special and meaningful as it can be, so I decided to make my own survival kit not only for her but all three of my kids!
Honestly, it wasn’t hard at all…and was actually kind of fun! (Well, I guess that just depends on what you consider “fun”)
The toughest part was creating the tags, but I already did that for you, so you’ve got it “made in the shade” to make your own!!
Let me walk you through what you need and how to do it!
1. Supplies You Need to Make a Finals Survival Kit:
– A Bag (or if you are mailing it to a college student, you’ll want a sturdy box)
– Printable Treat Tags (you can grab those here!)
– Scissors
– Tape
2. Snacks/Treats/Goodies for the Finals Survival Kit:
I got most of my “goodies” at the Dollar Store so this won’t break the bank!
Here are some of the treats that coordinate with the tags: (Note: you don’t need to buy ALL of them… I had about 10 -12 items in my bags, and that was plenty!)
- Cheez-Its
- M&M’s Candy
- A Bag of Chips
- A Pack of Gum
- Any Type of Nuts
- Mints
- Beef Jerky
- Granola Bar or Candy Bar
- Lip Balm
- Apple Juice, an Apple, or any Apple Flavored Snack
- Cookies
- Gummy Bears
- Nacho Chips (ex. Doritos, Takis)
- An Orange or any Orange Flavored Treat
- Tootsie Rolls or Fruit Roll-Up
- Nerds Candy
- Popcorn or a Soda Pop
- Starburst Candy
- Swedish Fish
- Blow Pops
- Chex Mix
- Crunch Candy Bar
- Smarties Candy
- Donuts
3. Assemble the Finals Survival Kit
Once you have purchased your treats, print out the tags (*Helpful hint* I prefer to use white cardstock printer paper to make them more sturdy), cut them, and affix them with tape to the coordinating tag!
SO EASY!!
Wait ’til you see the smile on your kids’ faces when they know you were thinking of them!!
They are going to wish it was finals week EVERY WEEK (okay, probably not, but they will totally dig the treats!)
BuzzFeed.com posted some hilarious memes about finals weeks that your kids may totally get a kick out of (especially teens/young adults)…you can check those out here!
Sending them a funny meme each day by text would be a fun way to keep them smiling!
Are there any other fun things you do for your kids during finals week to help them prep for their tests? Special breakfast?
Celebratory dinner at the end of the week? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time, cheers to your kids rocking on their final exams, and cheers to you!
XOXO,
Magan
