With two years and well over 100 blog posts under my belt, there is one topic that seems to get the most attention…
It’s the one thing that I get the most emails about, and my pins about it go C-R-A-Z-Y on Pinterest…
Conversely, it was also absolutely the hardest thing I ever wrote about.
Something that so many people struggle with, but very few honestly share about.
For me, losing my hair was a terrifying experience...one filled with embarrassment and humility…and at some points complete hopelessness that I could stop or reverse it.
Things were so bad, I actually bought one of these “fake buns” to help hide my hair loss!
Girl, I was desperate, and looking for anything to help!!
The good news is that if you too have traveled through the awful experience of losing hair or currently are in that place in your life, there are things that can help.
I am here to tell you things can get better! Hang in there, friend!
Luckily, I was able to stop the massive amount of shedding I was experiencing and regrow new hair, but it took some focus, determination, and persistence to figure out the root cause…no pun intended!
If you are in need of help, I wrote an extensive blog post about it here “Why Is My Hair Falling Out (and 8 Ways I Stopped it) - Women's Hair Loss Solutions and Remedies”
Beyond the things I share in that post, I also have committed to taking better care of myself…my hair loss was a direct correlation to my own self-defeating habits and extreme lack of self-care…
and I’m not talking about the mani/pedi, facial-filled spa day type of self-care…more like the eat veggies, be kind to yourself, get some sleep, and drink H2O kinda’ self-care. To be honest, I was taking care of my house plants better than I was taking care of myself!!
In the last year and a half, I’ve pretty much tried EVERYTHING…from guided hair growth meditations to listening to subliminal messages while I slept to stimulate my hair follicles…
You name it, I gave it a whirl…I’ve seriously tried countless products and protocols, so I am your go-to girl for sharing what has worked, and what has not!
Now, I’m going to break down my top 10 products to stop hair loss and start new hair growth, and all of these I continue to use to this day!
(Disclaimer - I am not a medical doctor, and this is not health care advice…be sure to see your health care provider to check your lab work…addressing and correcting my adrenal fatigue was crucial in my healing journey, so be sure you rule out any serious medical conditions)

I’m sure you’ve heard all about the health benefits of fish oil, right?
Well, I'm not a fan of swallowing big ole' pills of anything, especially fish oil (can you say fishy burps?)
So I take a spoonful of these liquid Omegas every AM. They have a variety of flavors, and I’ve tried Lemon and Orange, but I (and my family) like the taste of the Mango Peach one the best!
Did you know when your hair is wet it is the most prone to breakage? #truestory
That’s why you need to use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your hair after showering. Be kind to those damp tresses!
I got mine at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks...now, that's what I call a cheap and easy solution!
Collagen powders are seriously trending these days…I mean we all want to stay youthful forever right??
Due to my age and because I’m a vegetarian, my holistic MD recommended that I double up on my collagens...So I take this Collagen Peptide Powder in my coffee every AM and I use this product made by Organixx mid-day when I make my protein smoothie.
Let's raise a glass to double dosing on collagen!! Salud!!
I have heard soooo many amazing things about the Olaplex products…
Not just from self-proclaimed “influencers”, but even some of my best buds…one of which is a hairstylist…
BUT….I’m cheap…so I held off as long as I could…
Then for Christmas, my daughter bought me a trial set, and gosh dang it, I’m hooked!
I actually went out and bought the ENTIRE set #3-#6, and can tell my hair is becoming stronger and healthier….
I guess the lesson is…some things are worth splurging for!
Being in my late 40’s and having very dark hair, I now need to color my hair on a regular basis which can be super damaging to my hair.
I have switched to a less toxic hair coloring system and try to spread out the time between colorings as far as I possibly can.
To help increase the intervals between processing my hair, I use this Loreal Root Cover Up Spray to hide those gray roots!
I’m an essential oils junkie…yep, I own it…I use them for pretty much every dern’ thing under the sun…
So when I saw a “recipe” for a hair growth tonic, I knew I was going to have to try it…
And I love it! Not only is it good for your hair, but it also smells, ah-mazing!
I wrote an entire blog post about it here if you want to check it out!
Vitamins in gummy bear form?
Hello, sign me up!!
I use the Sugar Bear Hair Gummy Vitamins because they contain Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B-6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Iodine, Zinc, Choline, Inositol, as the active vitamins and mineral. They also have no gelatin, no dairy, and no gluten, so it works for my vegetarian diet.
As a vegetarian, I have to pay closer attention to my protein intake more than most people.
Almost every day (except the days I'm feeling like a lazy bones), I use this protein powder to make a smoothie…I also add in collagen powder and a bunch of my supplement pill contents.
I HATE swallowing pills, so I pour out the powder from the capsules of my supplements, throw them in my smoothie, and gulp that bad boy down!
When you start researching hair loss, scalp massaging is often at the top of the recommendations.
It stimulates circulation which in turn makes the follicles more active encouraging hair growth.
After reviewing several products I bought this scalp massaging gadget from Amazon.
I use it in the shower and on my scalp pretty much every single day.
I mean, who doesn’t want a daily scalp massage?
Where's the first place you go to get advice about hair loss…Youtube, of course!!
I use it after showering and before styling, and it really makes my hair appear more full and voluminous.
More of that, please!!
There you have it, my top 10 hair growth products that I use almost every.single.day!
Good News!! It's Working!! My hair is growing in thicker and stronger, and I no longer need to wear a synthetic bun to hide the thin-ness!! Buh-bye, fake bun!!
So, until next time, cheers to taking your mane from a meager "meh" to mermaid marvelous, and cheers to you!!🥂
