Christmas Lights Cookies

Goodness knows, we are doing our best to keep ourselves entertained here in the Weber Abode (AKA #thispandemicsucks) and since it’s the holidays, we have upped our treat making game!

So, here is a SUPER SIMPLE cookie recipe that seriously ANYONE can make!

My middle daughter actually did most of the work with just a little supervision from me and it definitely helped bring a smile to her face and got her into the holiday spirit.

Here’s the lowdown of how easy it is…

1. Gather Ingredients for Christmas Lights Sugar Cookies

Ingredients for Christmas Lights Cookies

You only need 4 ingredients, so this is BEYOND simple!

We got all of ours at the grocery store, so they are easy to find items too!

  • Premade Refrigerated Cookie Dough

  • White Frosting

  • Black Decorating Icing

  • M&M’s (regular or mini)

2. Slice & Bake

Slice and bake cookie dough on a wood cutting board with a knife

Slice your refrigerated cookie dough and bake them according to the directions on the package.

It’s totally cool if you want to make your own dough from scratch, but we are L-A-Z-Y bakers here, so we went the simplest route possible (bring on the slice n’ bake)!

3. Cool It

Let the cookies fully cool to room temperature…oh, and it’s totally acceptable to nibble on any that might have gotten broken (accidentally or purposely)!

4. Frost

Add a layer of white frosting – thickness depends on how much you like frosting…so I like to load mine up!

Yum!

Again, feel free to make your own frosting…we opted for the kind in a tub!

5. Decorate the Christmas Lights Sugar Cookies

Add a black line of decorating icing for the string and use M&M’s to create the “lights”.

We used both full-sized M&Ms that we cut in half…and here’s how they turned out.

And we also tried the mini M&M’s to see if we liked those better…

So…..What do you think?

Which Christmas lights sugar cookies do you prefer?

Mini or full-sized??

Don’t you think this would be the perfect treat to take when you drive around looking at Christmas lights?

My daughter even added her own flair and made a monogrammed one for each of our family members!

Aw, so cute, right??

So there you have it, folks…..quite possibly the easiest Christmas cookie of all time!

Until next time, cheers to keeping it simple, and cheers to you!
